On Sunday we celebrated the anniversary of our marriage. To get back a feeling of that crazy and wonderful day I decided to make our wedding cake - the millefoglie. Ok, not an exact copy of the state of art torte Italian pastry cooks made for us two years ago but rather a rustic variaton of it with lots and lots of strawberries. Because it's strawberry time! It turned out to be the most opulent breakfast: creamy, fruity, refreshing, - just perfect for this special day! And here is the recipe:

The Joy Of Gardening Always eager to discover more of the wonderful region we live in we drove to a small village named Öhningen to have a look on the what they call "tree school". It is something like a garden center in which they teach gardeners and also sell plants to us mortals. We were prepared to see lots of plants but we were not prepared to see a gosh-if-I-know-the-name-of-one-percent-of-these-plants-then-I-am-damned-good variety. It was ways better than any botanical garden because every big tree and every little flower they had would survive in our garden (if we had one). I was so overwhelmed that I forgot to take photos. The next time I will, promised! The absence of a garden didn't stop me though. I ended buying a fig tree and a pine tree for our terrace! Even if we will not harvest any figs this year I can now be sure to have enough fig leafs to cover the critical bits of me, ha! The Joy Of Talking To Open-minded People After leaving the garden paradise we went to the wonderful little city called Radolfzell (ups, no photos again) to eat Italian ice and have a quick look on the closing farmers market. We had no intention to buy anything but bread... First we passed this incredible cheese sales booth. Peter had to pull himself together not to start begging for cheese. Then we stopped at the flower booth, and I saw these roses, and I just got weak... My weakness was followed by guilty conscience so I offered to return and get this special Brie for my darling. This is what we did and that's where we stayed for at least an hour talking about people, politics, traditions and spiritual values with the shop man and one of the customers. The market has shut down and all the other sellers left. The cheese guy has closed the booth but the four of us were still staying there and discussing, discussing, discussing... It is a great feeling to bump into people who are so open-minded and intelligent while just doing some cheese shopping on a farmers' market. Wow!
